Life perishes with time but Art only flourishes. The creation of a Poet or an Artist becomes an inspiration in the journey of our life. Tagore’s compositions are such which have been able to transgress the boundaries of time and become our greatest companions in our mirth and desolation. The more we explore, the more we are enriched.
The Arts Department of The Bhawanipur Education Society College took a beautiful initiative to celebrate the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Tagore on 30th April and 7th May, 2022. On 30th of April, the Bengali Department organised for an Inter-College Essay Writing Competition adjudicated by Dr. Swati Guha, Director of The Institute of Language Studies and Research, Higher Education Dept, West Bengal. A total number of 35 students from 14 different institutions participated in the competition. The winners were felicitated by Vice Principal of Arts, Dr. Debjani Ganguly on 7th of May. The First and Third positions were secured by Chayanika Chakraborty and Pavel Dhar Choudhury from Jadavpur University. Nirbika Sarkar from Lady Brabourne and Kaustav Kayal from BESC jointly secured the second position.
Some of the most stupendous Cultural Programs within the College premises were observed on 7th of May. Dr. Uttiyo Chattapadhyay, dept of Geography, inaugurated the event with his mellifluous song. This was followed by a heart-warming speech by the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Tathagata Sen, the Prize Distribution Ceremony, Audio Drama and some of the most impressive cultural performances including Recitation, Music and Dance. The event was thus dedicated to the remembrance of our very own ‘Rabi Thakur’ through the language of Poetry and Music. The students with all their talents and elegance were the life of the program. It is indeed commendable how the joint efforts of the Students as well as the Professors marked the glory of the celebration.
A warm Vote of Thanks by Dr. Mili Samaddar from the Bengali Department of The Bhawanipur Education Society marked the twilight of our Event.
In the near future, we hope to celebrate such artistic endeavours in a similar manner.
