Teachers Day 2025

“Gurur Brahmā; Gurur Viṣṇuḥ; Gurur Devo Maheśvaraḥ.

Great teachers nurture imaginations and build pioneering youths, ensuring that the future is in the right hands, and the professors of The Bhawanipur Education Society College are no less, rightfully proving that they are at the heart of the educational system. September 5, marked as the birthday of the remarkable teacher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is recognised as “Teachers’ Day” all over the globe to celebrate teachers. From Socrates to Aristotle to Dronacharya and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, we celebrate them and the paths they showed, honouring their unwavering spirit and the art of imparting knowledge.

Since 5th September 2025 was a holiday on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the students of BESC chose 6th September 2025 as the ideal opportunity to celebrate Teachers’ Day, expressing gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the professors who shape the students’ future, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. The Bhawanipur Education Society College witnessed a symphony of joy and trailblazing performances on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day celebrations in the college’s Jubilee Hall.

The celebrations were divided into two time slots, with the first beginning at 9:30 A.M. and continuing until 12:00 P.M., and the second from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. The 6th floor of the college was decorated with creativity and elegance, welcoming the professors. As they entered the hall, they were greeted with a small box of chocolates, beautifully wrapped in coloured paper, as a token of gratitude. The professors took their seats with excited faces, looking forward to the showcases of the day.

The celebrations began with the professors lighting the candles placed on the stage, adhering to the theme of Teachers’ Day 2025, “Candle in the Wind.” With this, the anchors made a dramatic entry, welcoming the professors to a delightful celebration. While the event was dedicated to the professors, our “Gurus,” there could not have been a better start than the Guru Bandana performed by the Flames Eastern Dance group. This was followed by two soul-stirring and poignant dramas performed in the respective slots by Team Aarohan and Team Antarjaal from the Enact collective of BESC. While Team Aarohan emphasised the strong impact teachers have on students’ lives through both love and discipline, Team Antarjaal highlighted the importance of the education system and the role of an ideal teacher in society.

Teacher-in-Charge, Dr. Subhrata Ganguly, greeted the college faculty with a hearty Teachers’ Day wish. The Vice-Principal of the Department of Commerce (Morning), Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, then took to the stage and, as a tribute to the selfless services of our Gurus, recited a Sanskrit verse from the Guru Stotram: “Om Akhanda Mandalakaram Vyaptam Yena Characharam, Tatpadam Darshitam Yena Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah.” She also spoke about the importance of students in the life of a teacher: it is only because of students that a good teacher exists, and students make teachers’ lives meaningful. On behalf of the BESC faculty, she conveyed heartfelt thanks to the students for curating the programme, giving special mention to the Art-In-Me collective for the decor and creativity, which adhered beautifully to the theme of the day throughout the Jubilee Hall entrance. She expressed gratitude to God for allowing her to be a part of this noble profession and wished to fulfil all the responsibilities of mentorship entrusted to her. Her concluding words were: “God enable me to teach with wisdom, for I help to shape the mind. Equip me to teach with truth, for I help to shape the conscience. Encourage me to teach with vision, for I help to shape the future. Empower me to teach with love, for I help to shape the world.” With that, she invited Prof. Dilip Shah, the guiding light of the college, to the stage.

The Rector and Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, addressed the house with Teachers’ Day greetings. He then explained how he derived the theme for Teachers’ Day 2025 at BESC, “Candle in the Wind.” The wind acts as the enemy of the candle, trying to douse the flame, but the candle bravely withstands hardships and keeps lighting the path. Similarly, a teacher faces difficulties such as last-minute paper corrections, preparing numerous study materials, and occasionally handling students’ misbehaviour, yet they continue to fulfil their duty of educating young leaders, thereby educating the nation. Students come in as lumps of clay, and it is the teachers who shape them. Prof. Shah concluded his speech with the lines: “Fanus banke jiski hifazat hawa kare, woh shama kya bujhe jisse raksha Khuda kare.”

Following this, a fun game was arranged for the professors, where they were randomly called based on chits and asked to perform exciting activities like singing a song, sharing their first day in college as a professor, or revealing the most iconic excuse a student had ever given. Next came a showstopper dance performance by the Western and Bollywood teams of the Flames collective, followed by a melodious and soulful performance by the Crescendo collective. To put the cherry on the cake, the professors joined the students on stage and performed to songs like “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,” “Kajra Mohabbat Wala,” and “Aa Chalke Tujhe Main Leke Chalu Ek Aise Gagan Ke Tale.” An ethnic showdown by the Fashionista collective amused the audience and captured everyone’s attention. Another set of games was played, where students mimicked professors, and the audience had to guess whose mimicry was being performed. The game was exciting enough to keep the professors on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting to see who would be mimicked next.

The celebrations concluded with all the professors being called on stage for the cake-cutting ceremony. A photo booth was curated by the Art-In-Me collective, where professors captured the essence of the day and made lifetime memories. As parting gifts, they were given frames of spectacles according to their preferences.
