Name of the Activity: The Department of History organized an Inter Departmental Quiz Competition entitled, ‘Half the Sky’ on Saturday, 11th May, 2024.
Type of Activity: The Academic Event was an Inter- Departmental Quiz Competition, that has been encouraged by the Department to gain knowledge in an out-of-the-box way.
Date/Duration of Activity: The event was organized on Saturday, 11th May, 2024 from 2:30- 4:30 pm.
Time: The event was a 2 hour long event from 2:30-4:30 pm.

No of Participants: 37 students from the Departments of History, English, Sociology, Political Science, Bengali, along with faculty members from History, Political Science, English, Sociology, Bengali, Geography etc.
Objective of the Event: The Department organizes the Quiz Competition as a way to gain knowledge in a non-traditional way. It aimed to build ties of cooperation among the participants.
Brief Description of the Event: Twenty Five students participated in the Quiz as participants, divided into 5 teams. The event had 5 rounds of sessions- comprising audio clips, visual rounds, and of questions comprising visual cues, to a segment dedicated to the audience. The participants being from various disciplines, the questions covered a wide range of topics from a round on literature and the bibliophile, to questions on cinema, music. All the rounds were framed on the achievements of women. The quiz was fought along head-to-head among teams D and E, with Team D emerging as the winner. The participants at the end received Certificates of Appreciation, notepads and the winners received medals and journals.
The Department appreciates Professor Arup Ratan Samajdar for his role as the Quizmaster and encourages further participation among students in the near future. The Department also is grateful for the College administration for having always supported it in its endeavors.
Outcome of the Event: The Quiz helps in the interaction of students among various disciplines. It assists in knowledge to be acquired in an engaging manner with its emphasis on audio visual cues.
