Career Connect – the much-lauded bespoke programme of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) that encourages students to walk the talk from passion to profession organised its investiture ceremony on the twenty first of March in the Society Hall of the College.
The programme started with an engrossing talk around the theme: “The Future – as I see it” which was presented to the packed audience of graduating students and their faculty members by Professor Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs of BESC.
Prof Shah also welcomed the members of the Guest faculty who had conducted the various Career Connect courses, who were the main speakers on the occasion.
He also explained the philosophy behind the Career Connect courses which, he explained, had emerged from a need – a need to empower students, so that they may prepare themselves for the transition from the world of academics into the corporate realm, even as they seek to follow their hearts and convert their passions into the chosen professions.
Also present on the occasion were Prof Minakshi Chaturvedi, Dr Divyesh Shah and Prof Nidhi Kumari.
Vishal Dave who had spearheaded the entry of the students into the emerging faculty of Cyber Security ; Jai Shankar, who conducted various soft skill classes as part of the Commerce Plus programme; Chawm Ganguly who had exposed the students to the always-in-a-flux world of Corporate Communications; Chandrayee Basu who had exposed the students to the finer nuances of Digital Marketing and Aditi Lundia who helped students excel in Excel spoke one after the other – providing the holistic view to the audience – of the future from their professional vantage points.
As the future unfolded before them with the speakers highlighting the major transformational changes that they visualised their professions are going through, the students who sat mesmerised, raring to take the plunge and be a part of the epochs that were in the process of unfolding.
Prof Dilip Shah then took the microphone and explained the concept of KASH which is an acronym for: Knowledge – which is created when information about a particular subject is gathered to such an extent that the bearer is able to form an opinion about it; Attitude – which differentiates the winner from the also rans, for winning is a mind game;
Skill – proficiency in any given subject that helps one to differentiate one’s work leading to a curving out of a distinct identity; and Honesty – which is the binder that holds the rest together,
urging the students to embrace it as they moved forward in life, irrespective of their chosen fields of excellence.
Students present on the occasion where were then presented with their completion certificates by the faculty who had conducted the respective course.
It will not be out of place to mention the fact that students who successfully complete the course and the examination that follows are actively sought after by the industry for immediate employment because of their high level of deploy ability, generally with more openings available per head than other comparable vocations.
In most cases, the members of the faculty themselves help the college organise the placement of the students.
The programme was followed by the customary photo sessions and the distribution of light refreshments.
