The premises of Valia Hall, 5 Elgin Road, echoed with devotion as the Saraswati Puja commenced at 9:00 a.m. Prof. Sampa Sinha Basu performed the Sankalp, marking the auspicious beginning of the ceremony. Soon, the hall was filled with students and faculty members, their presence adding warmth and reverence to the occasion. Shortly thereafter, President Sri Rajnikant Dani arrived, accompanied by members of the Governing Body.
Simultaneously, at 3B Elgin Road—where the institution’s Saraswati Temple stands—Senior Vice President Sri Miraj Shah and other dignitaries offered their prayers, further elevating the sanctity of the celebration.
The aarti began around 10:00 a.m., following which a cultural programme was held on the turf. The programme featured a melodious classical dance performance, a soulful sarod recital by Dr. Vasundhara Mishra, and shloka recitations by students and staff. The conch-blowing (shankh) competition added a spirited touch, drawing enthusiastic participation from all.
A highlight of the day was the felicitation of 55 faculty members (some in absentia), in recognition of their dedication and research accomplishments.
As the day progressed, the beautifully decorated turf came alive with modern beats and music, energising a crowd of nearly 500 students. Basking in the sunshine and dressed in festive attire, their spirits soared as they danced with joy and high energy.
The celebration concluded with the serving of Mahaprasadam (lunch), leaving everyone feeling blessed and fulfilled as they departed from the college.
