People are informed through newspapers. It is one of the most powerful ways for people to communicate and connect with the rest of the world. It is also an excellent source of information. Early in the morning, newspapers provide us with our daily news fix, a very trustworthy source that provides us with information only after conducting extensive research. Even in the most isolated areas, newspapers are readily available. They’re also highly cost-effective, providing a wealth of information for a very cheap price. Most crucially, newspapers are available in a variety of languages, making it easier for individuals from all walks of life to receive news in their own mother tongue.
On June 2, 2022, The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted an interactive session. The topic of this session was “Patrakarita aur Pathak,” and the college invited Ms. Ghazzala Yasmin, the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Alia University; Prof. Kripa Shankar Choubey, Professor and Chairman of the Journalism and Mass Communication Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishvawa Vidhyalya Wardha; and Shri Vishwambher Newer, Chief Editor of Chapte Chapte and the director of Taza TV.
The programme began at 10:30 a.m., with Mrs. Vasundhara Mishra Ma’am introducing the guests to the audience and requesting that the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah Sir, Prof. Meenakshi Chaturvedi Ma’am, and Mr. Kapil kumar Bhattacharya Sir hand out the mementos to our special guests in the college’s Placement Hall.
The main goal of this session was to educate today’s generation (‘the millennials’) about the value of newspapers in these changing times.
They emphasized the importance of the right to information, the right to education and amusement, and the right to freedom of expression.
Prof. Choubey detailed the evolution of newspapers from antiquity to the present day. He also apprised the Patrakarita’s missions and vision in today’s world, in the first half. Ms.Gazzala then explained the importance of journalists as watchdogs of the media and society, and she also educated the students on the importance of news verification. Finally, Mr.Newer emphasized the importance of newspapers, their print, and most importantly their content for the targeted audience, saying, “Bhasha hi samaj ki aasha hai.”
Throughout the session, all the students and staff were equally engaged and entertained. They asked several important questions, which were eloquently addressed.
The Bhawanipur Education Society College arranged a Factory Visit for the students of Commerce Plus and all other courses to Modern India Steel Rolling Mills in Dankuni. 47 students accompanied by 2 Teachers were privileged to visit the factory. It was a great day and memory to be cherished forever.
