News 24×7 was a workshop held at The Bhawanipur Education Society College on October 5, 2015, conducted by Mr. Chawm Ganguly. The main objective the workshop was to know the Who. What, When, Where & How of our newspaper. The workshop started with a PowerPoint presentation by the faculty and he explained the above mentioned 4 W’s & H of a newspaper.
In the PowerPoint presentation, the main objectives of newspaper reading and its good effects were discussed. He also explained the various types of newspapers available in India and its contents. The responsibilities of a reporter were also discussed, that is, he/she must be impartial, must write the actual information, etc. The topic then moved to digital reading on various gadgets like the cell phone and the reasons why newspaper reading has declined and many newspaper companies have been shut down because of less circulation of newspapers.
A Q&A Session between the students and Chawm Sir was followed after the end of the presentation. Prof. Dilip Shah concluded the workshop with a discussion on the topic and also gave various examples of how certain people became well established just by reading newspapers. It was a great experience and a knowledge sharing session.
