On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the college celebrated the incredible power of women, who don various hats in their daily lives, during which one primary concern is their health. To ensure the well-being of the multitasking women at home & work, the BESC came up with a two-day session on women’s well-being and care, on the 7th and 8th of March to sensitize students, teaching & non-teaching staff about the Woman’s World.
The first session on hair and skin care with a free health checkup camp, was organized on March 7th in the Concept Hall, in collaboration with Epta Clinic. The session began at 10:30 am with students from all disciplines patiently waiting to learn methods to battle problems like acne, irregular menstruation, hair fall issues, etc. The session began with an introductory note by Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector & Dean of Student Affairs who thanked Ms. Chandrayee Bagchi, a women entrepreneur behind Epta Clinic. The guest speaker for the day was Prof. (Dr.) Biswapati Mukherjee, Consultant Obstetrician and gynecological endoscopic surgeon who was introduced by Ms. Bagchi. Prof. Mukherjee talked about how dermatological problems like skin acne and hives commonly arise in women due to hormonal imbalances and improper diet.
When Dr. Mukherjee took center stage, he displayed a detailed PowerPoint presentation on skincare and haircare upon which the audience later asked various questions related to their issues. During the session, forms were distributed among the audience to fill out their common issues and then each member of the audience lined up to undergo their blood sample for random sugar test and weight, oxygen, & pulse rate. After that, each one analyzed was given an overview of their health status & the overall analysis of their well-being. The session ended with each participant taking out refreshments & looking forward to the talk the following day.
On the 8th of March, the college hosted doctors of CMRI hospital, Dr. Manjari Chatterjee, a renowned Gynecologist, and Dr. Ayan Roy an Orthopaedic Surgeon. The session began in the Society Hall of the college at 11.00 am with the doctors being welcomed by Prof. Dilip Shah and Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi. The first half of the session was dedicated to gynecological issues raised by Dr. Manjari, around PCOS & its implication for young girls, Endometriosis, and Menopause in elderly women. The previous day’s analysis came in handy when the attendees tried to understand their health issues & raised questions to the doctor about their concerns. The next half of the session was conducted by Dr Ayan, who briefed the audience about the importance of bone health & an active lifestyle. The doctor took into account orthopedic concerns like torn ligaments, bone injuries while playing & low calcium in women. Several questions were encouraged by the doctor himself who gave one-on-one advice to the attendees. This two-day session was a huge success for all alike & indeed made the women of the Bhawanipur fraternity come under one roof, celebrating themselves. The session ended with refreshments for all & was a massive success.
