The 2 day workshop was an informative and interesting one. The day began with a round of self introduction of all students. At this workshop they were taught about what does the term “creative writing” mean, its importance for the youngsters, the ways in which one can be creative, how it is useful in modern day living, things we must regularly do to improve upon our creative writing skills, like we must read newspapers, books, magazines & journals, watch dramatics, use the internet wisely, write a diary or a journal, teach small children, copy attractive & well-written passages, write about personal experiences, feelings, short stories, passages in a separate notebook; kinds of creativity.
He advised us to be different, to observe, to be curious about life, about things, about everything, to be a voracious reader and an ardent writer, to pen down our thoughts & to value our own work. He asked us to smile often, take a deep interest in people we meet, observe the smallest of things, love & appreciate nature, respect life, find humors in things we do, spend time with our loved ones, never miss an opportunity to thank & praise others, and avoid work, people, things that make us unhappy.
He read out some beautiful poems which he had composed. He told us interesting stories and shared a few of his real life experiences. We were given a homework on Day 1 which we had to submit the next day and on Day 2 we had to write a paragraph/poetry/short story which was assessed by him & we had to speak on something related to what we had written. He also pointed out the loopholes & discussed a few ways as to how we can improve our vocabulary and writing skills.
This workshop was for the students to enhance their writing skills & to ignite creativity. This workshop attracted students from various departments & they were introduced to creative writing in various genres. The purpose of this workshop was to develop the imaginative writing processes & to express our creativity & emotions in a proper way.
