The Art in Me collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society college (BESC) organised a two-day workshop in the college where students celebrated union of canvas and colours. The importance of Art as a means of expressing the innermost feelings of the one wielding the brush, or as a catharsis for students, hemmed in as they are in an ever-exacting schedule cannot be overemphasised and the Workshop was as welcome to the participants as lucid intervals are.
Ayan Ghoshal took the eager students through the works, beginning with a talk about the different art forms their characteristics and importance through to specific deliberations on water colours and the techniques of pencil shading. Interactive in nature, the workshop witnessed a very high amount of engagement as the students and the teacher participated in animated discussions that they depicted on their chosen mediums.
Vinay Gupta played a stellar role in organising the event. The collective proposes to follow up the event with an exhibition of the pieces that were created so that the students can not only embrace art in a bigger way, but also interact with the artists among them, the creators of the exhibits.
The report has been filed by Shraddha Bose with cameraperson Mayank Kahsyap of the Expressions Collective of the BESC.
