Objective of the Event: To familiarise school-level educators with the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and its practical applications, and to provide hands-on training in Python programming and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to enrich AI-based skills. The syllabus is aligned with the ISC updated syllabus for Classes XI and XII as per the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines.
Brief Description of the Event: The Department of Computer Science successfully conducted a 30-hour Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Empower Your Teaching with Artificial Intelligence” from May 20 to May 24, 2025. The programme was specially designed for ISC school teachers across Kolkata. The sessions included detailed modules on the basics of Artificial Intelligence, introduction to Natural Language Processing, and foundational Python programming with practical demonstrations. All eleven participants actively engaged in interactive activities and assessments. The resource persons ensured that concepts were delivered in an accessible and applicable manner.
Outcome of the Event: All eleven participants successfully completed the FDP with A+ grades. Feedback received indicated a strong appreciation for the quality of the content, clarity of instruction, and practical relevance to their teaching careers. The participants found the programme highly enriching, citing improved confidence in adopting AI-driven concepts in their classrooms. The FDP was instrumental in introducing a future-ready approach among school teachers and establishing an academic bridge between college-level technology and school-level instruction. A comprehensive manual containing the detailed syllabus, session outlines, key concepts covered, and additional learning resources was published at the conclusion of the FDP.
