Organizing Unit: The Department of History in collaboration with NSS Unit and Environmental Development Committee had organized on 8th January 2025, a tree plantation drive
Date/ Duration of activity: The programme was conducted on Wednesday, 8th January 2025.
Time: The event was conducted between 11am-4 pm
No. of Participants: 21 students from the department of History along with 7 faculty members and 25 children from Sapgachi Humanity for You and Me. The event, in collaboration with NSS had NSS volunteers.
Objective of the event: To make students play their parts in combatting the looming environmental crisis, the department in collaboration with the Environmental Committee organized a tree plantation drive at CRPF Camp, Kasba playground.
Brief Description of Event: Changing environments and its consequent impacts, have been historically known, to affect the survival of human civilisations. With climate change, upon us, the department, decided to focus on the vital connections between a sustainable, clean environment and the future survival of humanity. With this objective in mind, a tree plantation drive was organised, with students being the principle participants.
Armed with saplings, students furrowed the soil, with help from children from Sapgachi Humanity. Tree plantation drives are an innovative way of participative-hands-on-learning to students to impart crucial lessons on sustainability and collective spirit in the name of humanity.
Outcome of the Event: Tree plantation was associated with two interrelated personality developments. 1) To teach students to become responsible citizens and 2) to make them aware of the spirit of effective participatory action, i.e. the path that is to be forged to find global solutions for humanitarian crisis.
There are various students at The Bhawanipur Education Society College who have interest in topics of science and an inquisitiveness that runs deep.
