The Bhawanipur Education Society College under the banner of Yi Bhawanipur Chaupal conducted an industrial visit to Greenply Plywood on the 12th of September. A group of around 38 students visited the factory, accompanied by Prof. Kaushik Chatterjee.
Before the journey started students were motivated by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Students Affairs as he explained, how is it beneficial for every commerce students to visit a manufacturing plant. The journey started at around 8:30 am from the college campus.
Greenply Industries Limited (GIL) is India’s largest interior infrastructure company with a whopping turnover of Rs. 1560 crore, they stand at top when it comes to plywood and MDF boards and account for almost 30% of the organized plywood market in India and has 30% market share in domestic MDF market. Greenply markets the most comprehensive portfolio of residential and commercial floor products available.
Students were divided into three groups for easy understanding of manufacturing process and each group was accompanied by a site manager and supervisor. Students were explained about the manufacturing process as to how is the wood sorted and from where it is imported.
They explained that cutting of trees is completely banned in India so all the woods are now imported from various countries like Burma and Australia. Students were also introduced to various imported machineries that are used for easy processing of resources into the best manner it can be optimized.
This industrial visit gave students’ knowledge of the working strategies of the industry. Overall an exciting knowledgeable experience.
