Indeed ‘expression’ is the passion that has propelled mankind this far. The Bhawanipur Education Society College promotes expression of talents and in due course has hosted a selection for Mandala Art. The workshop was organised by Shreyoshi Paine and Adhrish Ghosh, representatives of Art n Me Collective.
Mandala Art is a symbolic picture of the universe in which the circle represents wholeness, totality, infinity, timelessness, and unity. The try out was conducted on 7th May 2022, Saturday from 11.15 am onwards in Room number 112(First floor). For the one-hour session, fifteen minutes were given for net surfing and deciding the abstract thought and concept to be drawn. The audition was supervised by Devangi Vora, student of Semester IV B.com(H). Among the eight participants, seven, namely, Vidhi Shah, Vanshika Shah, Sanghamitra Banerjee, Bhumi Majithia, Dhanasree Khatri and Pooja Begani are students of Semester II B. com(H) while only one participant Nehal Jeloka is a Semester IV student pursuing B. com(H).
The common topic for all the participants was ‘Angels and Devils.’ The use of colour pens was not compulsory and participants were allowed to use geometric instruments. The contestants got their own art papers.
Vanshika Shah says she has been ‘doing Mandala Art for two years.’ while Nehal Jeloka was prompt for participating in it (as it would be an Inter-College event).
Towards the end of the hour, the contestants were asked to explain their piece of art and the explanations were being recorded. Photos of all the mandalas were duly captured.
