“You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming.” Pablo Neruda. This is so correctly said. And to bring spring for those who are unable to witness it themselves is humane. Prefacing this at The Bhawanipur Education Society College premises NSS collective of the college conducted an activity namely “RAY OF HOPE” on 22nd September 2019. It was a life changing experience for everyone. The turf and Valia Hall were chosen as the venue.
It was an event organised to bring smile on the face of several orphans. With this theme, BESC reached out to almost 200+ orphans from 3 NGOs of the city (Ekta Evening School & Convent of the Immaculate Heart of Mary). All the children were transported to and from the college and were given an altogether memorable experience of entertainment, fun, food and shopping inside the college premises. The event started off around 9 am by the children lightening the lamps with the theme “Let there be light in their lives”. The students who took the lead were Varsha and Kishan Bagaria. Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs explained the students the significance of the event and the reason why they were invited. Dignitaries present there were Jitubhai Shah, Umeshbhai Thakkar and Amar Agarwal.
The children were given virtual money Rs 500 to make them understand the value of money. Eachitem kept for shopping whether toys or clothes were donated by some charitable soul. Followed by a musical and a dance performance by Crescendo and Flames respectively, it was time for storytelling which amused the little ones and it was wonderfully presented by Amar Agarwal. Lastly a magic show was organised for the children to accelerate the dose of entertainment. Dharmesh Dudheria, Shivani Bamalva and Swapneel Thakur as usual were at their best in conducting the events. The programme ended with a note that every troubled area gives a ray of hope that can peep in, we just need to envisage them.
