The first THEATRE FESTIVAL of BESC portrayed various flares of intriguing pastiche of exemplary theatre art. In this two day event organised on 27th and 28th of February ‘The Bhawanipur Education Society College’ celebrated the power of theatre where myriad imaginative and creative souls hailing from various colleges of Kolkata were given a golden opportunity to socially showcase their unique acting skills . The theatre festival started off at 10:00 a.m. at the Concept Hall with a heart-warming welcome address presented by Dean of student affairs – BESC, Prof.Dilip Shah.This was followed up by the felicitation of The Chief Guest- Ms. Usha Ganguly. The Student Coordinator for this event was Argha Banerjee –from the College Enact Collective and the winner for Boardroom drama, short film making, nukkad natak and mono acting as well as the first runner up of Stage Play.
Short film making – the first event of the festival brought together the creative skills and imaginative ideas of the aspiring youth representing the participating colleges (JDBI, Heritage, ShriShikshayatan, and BESC).After a series of outstanding cinematography, story lines, dialogue deliveries and jilts and clatters of humorous stand-up comedy the event was a real treat for the mind and soul. BESC emerged as the glorious winner of this event followed up by JDBI as the first runner up .This amazing event ended up with mark able words by the judges –Mr.Dev Kumar Paul and Mr.Chirag. They felicitated the winners as well.
Mono acting was an individual event that took place in one round wherein the participants had to present a mono act on any theme. The judge for this event was Mr.JanardhanGhosh. Argha Banerjee from BESC won the winning title for this event along with the hearts of the audience followed upby a participant from Presidency University as the runners up.
The most humorous event of the theatre festival of BESC – Ad Spoof was a perfect balance of creativity, well woven content, innovation, originality and humour . The participants from BESC won this event and the hearts of audience with their astounding performance.
Another interesting event – Picture Story gave participants a chance to depict a story based on the given theme through a series of photographs. BikashDhar was the winner of this event followed up by RajibDutta (1stRunner up) &Sudipta Das (2nd Runner up).
Nukkad natak – one of the earliest forms of theatre art in India was again relived at the premises of BESC.BESC bagged the title of winner for this event followed up by JDBI (1st runner ups) and Narula Institute of Technology (2nd runner ups).
Board room – another team event of the theatre festival wherein the participating colleges ( Heritage College, JDBI, BESC and Presidency College) performed skits at various venues of the College premises .Each college performed upon a unique theme which added a different charm to much interesting fest. The event ended up with the felicitation of winners (BESC) and first runner ups ( JDBI& Presidency college) by the judges.
The last and the most interesting event of the entire theatre festival – Stage Play was organised at Rotary Sadan wherein each participating college team brought light to various elements of acting , expressions, content and direction. Heritage college emerged as the glorious event followed up by BESC as the first runner ups.
BESC emerged as the glorious over all winners of the Theatre Festival followed up by JDBI and Presidency University as the First Runner ups.The Faculty members and The Dean of Student Affairs– Prof. Dilip Shah rendered immense support and guidance all throughout .The team work and efforts of the Directors – Argha Banerjee ,Rajarshi Mitra,Shashank Agarwal ,Umang Sharma & Heads –Anushriya,Darshdeep Singhwalia, Navneet Dugar, Nishant Lahoti,Vidhi Hakim brought forth an immense success to this.
