Public Speaking is the most difficult form of verbal communication. People feel that speaking on a stage is similar to addressing a rally or a crowd for a meeting or a debate. But this misconception of ours was clarified and modified by Mr. Parnab Mukherjee during the course of a four day public speaking workshop, held from 17th to 20th November, 2014.
Mr. Parnab helped us to know the basics of public speaking rules regarding addressing an audience, posture on stage, voice modulation and also the use of correct tone and gestures to increase the efficiency of speech. He emphasized on the fact that a speech reaches its destination only if it is delivered with utmost efficiency.
Initially the characteristics of the students were identified to break the ice but then they were taught to structure a speech, to emphasize on the least important point of the topic and the use of anecdotes and examples. This not only helped them to improve their communication but also install confidence in them.
One of the most important developments as a result of this seminar was the formation of A Public Speaking and a Theatre Society called AIM (Actions In Me) under the mentorship of Parnab Sir and guidance of Prof. Vijay Kothari.
The students were extremely pleased with the workshop which received a very positive feedback.
