A job interview is not a test of your knowledge but your ability to use that knowledge at the right time. With the near graduates entering the next phase of their life, The Bhawanipur Education Society College offered them an opportunity to embark on this journey with a well-made Curriculum Vitae and some wise tips on how to crack an interview. The workshop took place in the Society Hall of the college on April 21, 2023, from 8:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M conducted by Prof. Urvi Shukla, a certified career coach by NCDA & Career Development Alliance (USA), who is also an author and educator with 20 years of teaching experience. The workshop began with the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, addressing the students about the importance of such workshops which enhances one’s prospects in their respective industries.
The workshop consisted of PowerPoint presentations developed by Prof. Shukla which contained valuable information on a CV and its contents. She focused on the difference between a Resume, CV, and Biodata. She explained in detail about all that goes into a CV, like highlighting one’s skill set, and objectives, and how to use formal language without any grammatical errors. She explained why these elements enable a job aspirant to stand out from others and get selected for the job they desire. The other half of the workshop focused on how to prepare oneself for an interview. This entailed the dos and Don’ts of an interview and all that goes into preparing oneself mentally for an interview. She also warned them about the common mistakes that freshers make during their first few interviews. She provided students with a list of questions that can be asked of them by the interviewer and advised them to prepare basic answers to them, beforehand.
Before concluding the session, Prof. Shukla stated that freshers should not negotiate the terms and conditions during the interview but only focus on cracking the interview in the first place. The workshop ended with students raising their questions which were duly answered by Prof. Shukla. Students in the Society Hall applauded Prof. Shukla for her guidance and her time. The Society Hall was found to be short of chairs as participants were more than expected. It is heart-warming to note that even during the declared holiday such a turnout was seen on campus.
