As a city steeps with tradition, Kolkata transforms into a magic land during the time of Durga Puja. This year, Bengal’s favorite festival got even more special with the introduction of Trishakti Samman. An award to redefine the festive spirit of Kolkata by honoring the truly worthy worshippers of Ma Durga. The Bhawanipur college has consisitently helped create socially responsible citizens of tomorrow, and it has furthered its commitment by giving the city of Kolkata the gift of “TRISHAKTI SAMMAN”. An award that’s not just about gorgeous idols or thematic pandals but something much more important . It’s about the Environment…about the People…about the Powers that bind them together.
An initiative by South Division Kolkata Police in association with The Bhawanipur Education Society College, ‘The Trishakti Samman”. It seeks to honor all those puja pandals of South Calcutta that have successfully incorporated the elements of Safety, Cleanliness and Eco-Friendliness in their divine celebration of Goddess Durga. A Total of 240 pandals were covered in two rounds by the Judges (preliminaries and finals). Judged by a panel of four judges.

Total of 23 Pujas were awarded on the 3rd of January 2016, at an award celebration at the Bhawanipur College.
They were felicitated by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament Sri Subrata Bakshi, dignitaries of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Kolkata Police and other important personalities graced the occasion and commemorated the winning Puja Committee members.

Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Gujarat, originated in Vrindavan by Lord Krishna, where it is performed depicting scenes of Holi, and Leela of Krishna and Radha. Along with Garba, it is the featured dance of Navaratri evenings in Western India.
