An invited lecture on “Inking Ideas Through Digital Marketing In The Age Of 5G” was organized by the Department of Commerce, UG(Afternoon and Evening Section) on the 14th January, 2023 for the students of the Afternoon and Evening Section. The keynote speakers for the invited lecture were Prof. Rohit Ganguly(Assistant Professor, Department of Media Science, Swami Vivekananda Institute of Modern Science) and Mr. Sudipan Chakraborty (PR, Celebrity Manager- French Communication). Approximately 75 participant attended the talk.
The invited lecture commenced with an inauguration followed by a welcome address by Ms. Arundhati Mazumder. Thereafter, Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly delivered the opening address. He welcomed the keynote speakers, enlightened the participants about the impact of digital marketing revolution with the emergence of 5th generation on the population at large and set the ball rolling for the discussions of the day.
On that note, Ms. Arundhati Mazumder fittingly introduced Prof. Rohit Ganguly as the first speaker for the evening, mapping his career in the media field, publications to his name and his former work.
Prof. Rohit Ganguly started off with the concept of digital marketing and explained its emergence and growth. Further, he highlighted the various forms of digital marketing and exemplified how they work. For instances, website marketing, pay-per-click advertising, content marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, mobile marketing, SEO and SMM among others.
Following Prof. Ganguly’s presentation, Ms. Arundhati Mazumder introduced the second speaker, Mr. Sudipan Chakraborty. Mr. Chakraborty has been handling the PR activities and social media management across the film industry for quite some time now. He is currently associated with the PR wing of the renowned film production house, Friends Communication.
Mr. Sudipan Chakraborty explained the norms of being a social media manager and how he being a PR, handles the accounts of high profile clients over social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. Further, he talked about the algorithms of social media which are mainly based on machine learning.
At the end of the invited lecture, Dr. Dyuti Sinha conducted an interactive session between the speakers and the students. Thereafter, it became more engaging when Dr. Debanshu Chatterjee joined and took the session to new heights. He shared his insightful knowledge in social media algorithms, marketing in film industry, entrepreneurship development and many more.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Atreyee Ganguly. She thanked the Management, IQAC, TIC, VP (Afternoon & Evening Section), all the dignitaries, colleagues, organizing committee members and students for their gracious presence, relentless help and participation.
