The exalted face of the fashion industry, Mr. Mohan Neelakantan, who is the area head of styling at Pearl Academy were the faculty for the day. He is one of the foremost fashion stylists in India who has worked with almost all the fashion photographers, models and Bollywood actresses for Elle covers and fashion features.
Mr. Mohan elaborated on the theme by expressing his views and acted as an eye opener for the budding fashion icons of the college. Creating fashion doesn’t just entail a vivid imagination and instinct for creativity. It also involves many decisions and myriad techniques, focused on a central idea. Image is an identity that one cannot create in front of others. Image can be created; manipulated; reinvented or shattered with style. In crude terms fashion is a style of living. There are aristocratic fashions, film-style fashions, peasant class fashions and a kind of fashion known as maverick fashion. Naturally it is related to dress and manners read. But manners imply something deeper than fashions. Because fashion is comparatively superficial, and changes with the winds of change in certain races and people.
Ethnic Day aims at celebrating different cultures and ethnic groups. The day helped reconnect people with traditional and cultural roots and promote the true essence of age-old customs and traditions that have helped forged the different civilizations around the world.
