A Book Session was organised by the Department of Sociology ,The Bhawanipur Education Society College on June 22nd, 2024. Prasanta Roy, Professor Emeritus, Presidency University, Kolkata was invited to speak and read from his authored book “Everyday Lifeoworlds of Painting : Possibilities of Materialist History”. Prof. Roy undertook an interactive session with students and faculty members discussing the manifest histories of paints and paintings, with special reference to paint makers, artists, functions of ijel and canvas, and advertisement techniques of art. Professor Roy also emphasized upon the mechanical reproduction of art work as a demand of capitalist market. The scholarly session had enriched us and the students about the evolution of paints, painting styles and the industrial revolution and colonialism in the evolution of art work.

Aghora followed Al-Souk last year, when the students had successfully replicated a desert flea market, perhaps for the first time in a college campus in these parts of the country.
