On 1st April, the Department of Sociology organised a film screening event, “Reality in Reels”. The aim of organising this event was to vitalize the critical thoughts of students about the deep-seated affairs of the society through the lens of cinema. Three films were projected namely ‘Juice’ a Short film, the Oscar winning documentary ‘The elephant whisperers ‘ in the first session of the event and ‘Mr. And Mrs. Iyer’ in the next half. For each session there was a post screening discussion, the same was conducted by Prof. Arup Ratan Samajdar from Film Studies department in the first session. With the students and teachers participating in the screening and the post screening discussion, the event of “Reality in Reels” was a success.
