The Department of M.Com at The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a One-Day Workshop on Business Research Methodology and a Book Release Programme on May 6, 2023. This event marked the first of its kind for the department and commenced at 11:00 am with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by esteemed guests including Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly (Teacher-in-Charge of The BESC), Dr. Dipti Kumar Chakraborty (former Professor of the Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta), Dr. Tanupa Chakraborty (Professor of the Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta), Asst. Prof. Rahul Sarkar (Assistant Professor of the Department of Commerce, Sidho Kanho Birsa University), Associate Prof. Paramita Chakravarty (Coordinator, M.Com Department), and Dipannita Chatterjee (Faculty, M.Com).
During the inaugural session, the chief guests delivered welcome addresses, followed by speeches from Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly and Associate Prof. Paramita Chakravarty. Subsequently, the chief guests presented the published books to students whose articles were featured, engaging in discussions about their respective topics. Dr. Dipti Kumar Chakraborty commended the students for their research efforts and encouraged their academic pursuits.
In the first technical session, Dr. Tanupa Chakraborty provided a comprehensive explanation of research methodology, elucidating the process and potential research areas. Using visual aids, she showcased research topics to inspire students and concluded her session by urging them to delve deeper into research to broaden their knowledge.
The second technical session, chaired by Dr. Chandrima Chakraborty (Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics, Vidyasagar University), focused on time series analysis and its application in research. Demonstrating the use of EViews software, she guided students on its practical implementation and addressed their queries during an interactive session.
The event concluded around 5 P.M., effectively providing students with insights into Research Methodology and highlighting the opportunities it presents in today’s world. The efforts of the eminent speakers, along with Asst. Prof. Rahul Sakar’s initiative to publish the book, served to inspire students to explore the vast realm of research. The department looks forward to organizing more such interactive seminars and workshops in the future.
