The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, numbering about 10 fanned out to the middle, high schools in Keoratala village panchayat in 24 South Parganas and taught English and computer literacy to the students of these schools as part of the day-long NSS camp conducted by the NSS of The Bhawanipur Education Society College in these schools on February 11, 2016.
The volunteers, who covered Keoratala Basanbala Girls High School and Government aided Primary School, also gave tips to the students on stress-busting and created awareness among them of road safety.
One of the important activities which the volunteers undertook during the camp was to take a survey of the school to implement an ambitious project called Hole – in – the Wall (original idea of Prof. Saugata Mitra). The project is a unique idea of providing latest touch screen computer equipped with necessary education tools to the childrens on self-learning basis. They also distributed Calculators and compass box to both the school students.
Prof. Divyesh Shah, NSS Programme Officer welcomed the member of governing body of the school (Niranjanbhai Thakkar, Kiritbhai Shah, Vibhakarbhai etc) and gave a glimpse of future activities NSS unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College will undertake to improve the education facility in the school.
The member of the governing body of the school also acknowledges the contribution made by college in funding the entire construction of the school building.
Finally the student co-ordinators of the NSS unit of the college bid farewell to the school students only with a promise to visit them soon.
