Nexus, the management fest of BESC witnessed spirited participation from a number of the city’s premier institutions. The event itself was an eyeopener of sorts with BESC student organisers leaving no stones unturned to present a spectacle befitting its name. Aimed at inculcating the basic concepts of management among students, the entire fest was an exercise aimed at empowerment and was a huge success, even by BESC standards of excellence.
The opening event was Personality Enhancer in which students from different colleges enacted the personalities of different leaders from the world of business, like Anil and Mukesh Ambani, Mark Zuckerberg and the like.
In Corporate Chanakya, students were required to put up a stall and sell products that were given to them. The team raking in the maximum within the allotted time of two hours were to be the winners.
In the third competitive event, participants were required to present a complete business / marketing plan along with the estimated budget before the judge – Amit Kothari.
In the fourth event, participants were divided into five teams who were each assigned one professional mentor for 24 hours. At the assigned time, each team was expected to present a comprehensive start-up plan in front of the audience and judges, that too within the stipulated time of ten minutes. Mention must be made of the sheer diversity and depth to which the participating teams had gone to come up with business ideas that included one for a Bus-cum-Restaurant, a health and beauty APP, an APP based Ambulance Service, an APP for after-party clean-up services and the customary Connection APP.
The next competitive event was built around the ability of bidding. Each team representing different colleges were provided with a token sum of INR 1 lakh, which they could use to bid for boxes the contents of which were unknown to the bidders. The boxes went to the highest bidders who were then expected to sell the contents to recover their investment and earn profits. The team depositing the highest amount of cash to the organisers was to be adjudged the winners.
The Award Ceremony was initiated by a rousing speech on entrepreneurship by Prof Parnab Mukherjee.
The different winning teams who earned the laurels for their respective colleges were:
01. Suit Squad: BESC, followed by Sri Shikshayatan
