MODEL UNITED NATIONS also popularly known as MUN had its inaugural session on the 17th on August 2015, which was attended by about 60 students. The inaugural ceremony was begun by giving a brief introduction to the MUN, followed by an introductory speech of UN by the DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS Prof. Dilip shah. The introduction aimed at the objectives of UN i.e. happiness of people .Further a statistics was shown where since 1969 a steady growth was marked with 3% rise in GDP in countries related to Japan and Korea. 90% of the countries celebrated Independence Day. Further the importance of happiness was marked in comparison to money. US ranked 15th in the happiness chart .Through this MUN was introduced. The objectives and aims where further discussed.
Further a PPT was shown which discussed about the intentions of UN .Each and every slide was individually discussed. The PPT begun with the introduction and further shifted towards the problem of violence ., Since 2006 after 9/11where 1000 citizen died due to some Islamic extremist causing harm to humanity. Role of MUN was here discussed which aimed at standing against the evil and saving the world. Cyber Crime was discussed which was hence followed by an interactive session where the students actively took part. Further , a story of Gaza and Israel was discussed . A Palestine map was shown and a brief discussion was done on their violation and failures. Problems and rifts between India and Pakistan were discussed which relates to Israel and Palestine. Prof. Dilip Shah gave a further clear picture on the research of the representatives. Further slides discussed about drug induction and smuggling that gives rise to crimes all over the world and causing health issues amongst the youth harming the well being of people. Further the slides showed the map of South China Sea was shown and how the people here are kept for their safety. The entire PPT session was followed by a group discussion which involved active participation of the students , representatives and the professors.
MUN is basically the miniature form of what UN does. The MUN aims at well of people being. MUN is a combination of understanding, analysing and proper research work. Students showed interest in joining the collective and learning and gaining experience working under this collective.
