On Tuedsay, September 17, 2019, Dona Ganguly and Karan Vora, from the Political Science department, took 17 students of The Bhawanipur Education Society College to participate in the Youth Parliament Competition and Quiz Contest Programme organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.
The proceedings took place in St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata. With less than a week of practices and rehearsals, The Bhawanipur Education Society College Youth Parliament team was adjudged to be the Winners of the Kolkata District level of the Youth Parliament Competition amongst all colleges and Universities of Kolkata district.
Besides the overall winners in the Youth Parliament Competition, the college also bagged a couple of individual prizes in the Youth Parliament. Best Speaker (Roshmija Biswas, First Semester B.A. student), Best Leader of Opposition (Monomalya Bhattacharya, Third Semester B.A. student) and Best Script (Suman Gagrai, Third year B.A. student).
Fifteen students were part of the Youth Parliament. Two students also participated in the Quiz Contest.
There are cash prizes, trophies and certificates for the winners. This also qualifies for participation at the Division level event, scheduled to take place within 15th November 2019.
