The industrial visit to Synchro Electronics, CIT Road, Kolkata- 700010; organised by the Department of Electronics was held on 6th and 9th April, 2022. Mr. Debarup Roy was the responsible person of the industrial visit. The Departmental faculties – Dr. Utsa Das, Dr. Subhasis Das, Ms. Monali Sil and Mr. Rabisankar Bag accompanied the students to the small-scale electronic industry. The eminent personality Mr. Indranil Das, CEO, Synchro Electronics graced the occasion with his presence.
OBSERVATION
This industry aims at development of innovative products related to Automatic Testing, In
strumentation, Industrial Automation, Calibration, Maintenance solution etc. Under the guidance of Mr. Abdul, an employee at Synchro Electronics, we were explained the functionalities and working of the equipment. Specifically, we learnt about:
PCB assembling : Through hole PCB assembling, DIP soldering
Relays (electrical switch that controls a high voltage circuit using low voltage circuit)
Optocoupler PC8176(This IC isolates the circuit and eliminates noise from signal)
Ceramic capacitors; its colour code and application in AC line filtration. Darlington pair transistor (TIP122); used for switching and amplification purpose.
AC and DC programmable Power Supply
Power analyzer: Digital Power Meter-(Yokogawa WT310), having 0.1% accuracy with high performance and reliability.
TSOP Sensors-TSOP 1738: miniaturized receiver for infrared remote-control systems
Brushless Direct Current Motor: BLDC fan; which takes AC voltage and converts it into DC using SMPS, hence consuming lower electricity.
3D Printers: The latest technology printer was a highlight. A live demonstration of the alphabet ‘B’ was presented for better understanding of the working of this device.
OUTCOMES OF INDUSTRIAL VISITS
The overall objective of the industrial “visit cum exposure” was to combine theoretical knowledge with the industrial knowledge. This interaction aimed to:
Provide an opportunity to plan to organize and engage in active learning experience both inside and outside the classroom.
Industrial visit helped us to visualize and provide better knowledge about the matters we studied in the classroom.
It helped us to gain first hand information regarding functioning of the industry.
