15th August 2024 counted as the 78th Independence Day when the Indian Flag prospered high in the sky rejoicing in the flavours of Independence. The Bhawanipur Education Society College celebrated the 78th Independence Day and as the tradition continues, this year was a tribute to Freedom Fighter Sucheta Kriplani, India’s first female Chief Minister, serving as the head of the Uttar Pradesh government from 1963 to 1967. The event was graced by the President, Members of the Management, the Governing Body, the Principal and Vice-Principal of the Schools, and the faculty members, all of them were welcomed with tricolour Uttariyas for marking their presence in the celebrations. Apart from them, the event was witnessed by innumerable School & College students who showcased their love for the Nation! The college witnessed the ethnicity that the country holds as on this day every individual was decked up in ethnic attire portraying the Indian Culture through their costumes.
It was 9:30 A.M. sharp when the auspicious occasion proceeded on the College Turf which kicked off with the welcome speech and then the Flag Hoisting Ceremony on the Turf while the National Anthem sung in synchrony, followed by March Past by the Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School and Bhawanipur Education Society College NCC Unit which is divided into three wings of Army, Air and Navy. There was a powerful speech delivered by President, Sri Rajnikant Dani. The first performance of the day was a powerfully built role-play of Freedom Fighter, Sucheta Kriplani to pay her tribute and was exhibited by a member of The Enact Collective of BESC College. The play left no stone unturned to give goosebumps to the audience through its story showing the bravery that Sucheta Kriplani had while demanding an Independent India from the Britishers.
The next cultural event was performed by the Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School ICSE Students which was a combination of poetry, music, and dance-drama. The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School ISC Students had the next performance where through their dance they showcased patriotism and the rich ethnicity and secularism of India where every religion and culture are valued and respected. Before the performance by BESC College Music Collective, Crescendo, Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Co-Ordinator Bcom (Morning) drew light on the theme of India’s 78th Independence Day, which is “Viksit Bharat” symbolizing the vision of a developed nation by 2047. Following this, Crescendo proceeded with their performance and set the tone of patriotism among the spectators with their songs “Sandese Aate Hai” and “Vande Mataram.” The Dance Collective of BESC, Flames had the last performance of the day where the Eastern and the Western Dance Groups impressively proved dance to be a powerful form of showing love for the nation.
Towards the end, the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Dilip Shah announced the book launch of the Students’ Conference, 2024 and the authors were handed over the books by the college dignitaries. Following this, Prof. Shah announced the winners of the Faculty Intra-College Sports Tournaments and felicitated them with the trophies and medals. He also applauded Khushi Lakra, International Chess Boxing Player, and Mahi Bosmia, a National Darts Player as they will receive the Khel Ratna Award on 23rd August, 2024. Aditya Raj, mentor of the NCC Unit of the college proceeded with the Rank Ceremony where the NCC Cadets were awarded for their excellence and dedication. A felicitation of members of the teaching and non-teaching faculty for outstanding performance in indoor games was also carried out; with Prof. Saspo Chakraborty bagging maximum prizes. Lastly, abiding by the college customs, the Best Dressed Male and Female from the faculty and the student category were announced and felicitated. The auspicious ceremony ended at 11:00 A.M. with the closing remarks by Prof. Dilip Shah where he thanked everyone for being a witness to this celebration.
