The COVID-19 pandemic has not only physically affected us, but also mentally and emotionally. It has seriously affected the lives of the youth. Where on one hand the pandemic was a threat to many and on the other hand, it was an opportunity for some, the youth in between were fighting their own battles, the battle of self-doubt and anxiety. Putting emphasis on the happiness and emotional wellbeing of the youth, the college organised a workshop which was held online on Zoom. Mr. Shaurya Pathak and CA Priyanka Agarwal were the speakers for the session, who frequently organise such workshops for youth empowerment.
The elements of the webinar were: –
The webinar was designed to uplift the happiness and emotional wellbeing of the students.
It was attended online by the students at our college on Zoom.
The webinar started at 11 a.m. by a short introduction given by Professor Krupa.
The first session was a presentation given by Mr. Shaurya Pathak. He through his presentation explained the key choices to live a happy and successful life. He gave a detailed explanation to what happiness is and how it differs from success. He brought into our knowledge the spiritual laws for happiness: –
Body> Sensory pleasure
Mind> Joy
III.Intellect> Delight
Soul> Bliss
He also very well discriminated between Mind and Intellect, that how Mind is a seat of Emotions whereas Intellect is a seat of Analysis and Decision. “True success is in being the best version of yourself”, is what he believed in. Lastly, Mr. Shaurya shared his amazing experience after reading ‘IKIGAI’, the Japanese secret to a long and happy life.
The second session was a presentation by CA Priyanka Agarwal. Her main focus was to awake ‘Awareness’. She practically made us realize that what we actually are, by making us meditate for 15 minutes. She laid down the following points: –
She said that we are not our body, a body is a vehicle we use to experience the world.
We are not our mind; mind is only thoughts. If there are no thoughts, then there is no mind.
She explained that our body and mind together make up what we call a ‘person’ the imagined self. A person is what we experience and is not what we are.
She also explained that the habit of believing our own thoughts robs us of being able to live in the magnificence and glory of who we really are.
The one who gets angry, hurt, worried, anxious, or disappointed is not the real you. It is our mind.
One cannot acquire happiness; one can only BE it.
You can be happy in this very moment, no matter what is going on around you. Happiness is not something you have to look for or want for.
Towards the end of the webinar there was a question/answer round, where both the speakers answered to all the questions of the students and showed us the right path to grow and motivated us to believe in ourselves and always be happy. The webinar was really very helpful, and it set a new beginning for those who attended it.
