“If you do what you have always done; you’ll get what you have always gotten”. In today’s world passion and vocation can hardly be put in the same bowl but if both find the same destination, nothing can match the consequence. Bhawanipur Education Society College has always emerged as an institution where students are not only taught the University Syllabus, but they are constantly given training for the next leap that they will take immediately after finishing their Graduation. This year on 30th July, BESC has emerged with an outstanding workshop called “GD/ PI Workshop”.
“The Society Hall” was abuzz with the enthusiastic crowd mostly consisted of Semester 1 students. The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dilip Shah addressing all the students welcomed the chief guest, Miss Shahida Hussain. An avid learner, Miss Hussain has been working as the HR Chief Manager at ICICI Bank for the last 11 years of her career and she has also been teaching as a faculty of BESC for the last 2 years.
Having been honoured to provide her immense experience in professional arena, she began her speech by defining what GD and PI basically are. “Group Discussion is a methodology used by an organisation to gauge whether the candidate possesses certain personality traits required for that particular organisation. It’s an important part of short listing process of recruitment in a company. “Personal Interview is a face to face survey when a specific target population is involved”. The speaker, impressed with the keen interest from the part of the students, spoke at length regarding the steps and methods on how one should prepare himself/herself for the interview. She also advised the students to do an extensive research on the particular organisation they are appearing for an interview. They must take good care of the kind of cloth they are choosing to wear for an interview because a lot depends on how you are presenting yourself.
In Mss Hussain’s opinion, making a proper C.V is also important before attending an interview and to keep at least 4/5 copies of CV along with other academic and professional documents before submitting one to the interviewer. She also discussed the various questions and answers regarding sectors like Marketing, HR, Sales, Accounting & Finance.
Having spoken a lot on this workshop, she gracefully thanked Professor Dilip Shah for arranging such a thoughtful event. At about 11:30 am in the morning the session ended with a vote of thanks by the Dean with a solemn pledge to stand by the students in their need.
