Brief description of the event: The Department of Political Science of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an educational field trip for Semester VI students to the Calcutta Police Museum as part of the DSCC14 tutorial component under the University of Calcutta undergraduate curriculum. During the visit to the Calcutta Police Museum, students were introduced to a wide range of exhibits showcasing the history and development of policing in Kolkata. The museum houses valuable archival materials, historical photographs, uniforms, medals, investigative tools, and documents that reflect the evolution of policing from the colonial period to the present day. Students observed displays related to major historical events, landmark criminal investigations, and technological developments in law enforcement. The exhibits highlighted the administrative structure, operational practices, and significant contributions of the Kolkata Police in maintaining public order and ensuring urban security. The visit allowed students to engage with the institutional history of policing and to understand how law enforcement agencies operate within the broader framework of governance and public administration.
