Fagun, the holy month of Spring was celebrated at The Bhawanipur Education Society College in its out-of-the-box style. The festivities of Spring celebrating Holi became a reason for the college to celebrate its non-teaching staff, with a function organised just for them! The event began at 4.30 pm on March 2nd with the members of the non-teaching staff ushering in the Jubilee Hall as they were welcomed with a Sandalwood tilak on their foreheads. The event was initiated with a welcome address by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Student Affairs, who invited each member to enjoy this festival of Spring, Fagun. Prof. Shah’s speech was followed by a Performance by Crescendo Collective, who sang some beautiful melodies on stage like ‘Kesariya’. The event also saw Mr. Saurav Goswami, the music faculty, who took the audience to a musical nostalgia of the 90s with some old tunes from Bollywood.
The occasion was graced by the Chairman, Sri Rajnikant Dani, Teacher-in-Charge Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, who called upon stage members of the non-teaching staff to give them a token of appreciation on behalf of the college. Fagun is celebrated at the college with much fervor not only to celebrate Holi but also to celebrate its family of employees, each of whom counts in the administration of the college. The event saw another highlight which was a performance by Enact, a collective of Theatre that put up a satire on Indian politics with a blend of drama, humor & dance. The audience was engaged in another performance by Flames, a Dance collective of the college that performed old school tunes in a classical dance form. The beauty of Fagun was enhanced by these dance performances as the audience started playing floral Holi amongst each other which lit the ambiance in the mood of Fagun, in its true sense.
The event concluded with the notes of famous Bollywood dance numbers put up by Flames, the Bollywood team who ensured that each member of the audience rejoiced on the arrival of Spring. With yellow-coloured Marigold petals strewn all along the Jubilee Hall, the ambiance towards the end was close to gardens of spring’s delight. The event concluded with each member of the audience being given gift hampers followed by a packed meal to continue the celebrations of Fagun.
