The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a Seminar, ‘En Vogue’ on Personal Branding took place on February 22, 2023, at the Concept Hall. The Workshop began with The felicitation of Dhara Gujjar, a BCom, Semester-I student for her incredible achievement of being selected to the Mumbai Indians Women Squad at the Women Premier League (WPL 2023). Members of the College management Mr. Jitu Shah, Mr. Umesh Thakkar, the Teacher-in-Charge Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Dilip Shah, and the sports officers Mr. Bhavin Parmar & Mr. Rupesh Gandhi awarded her with a memento.
Her achievement became a way to inspire the students to think of themselves as a brand, which needs to have a language of its own. Prof. Shah, soon after called upon stage Mr. Avik Roy, the guest speaker for the topic of Personal Branding who was introduced as a seasoned professional with over 20 decades of experience in the fashion industry with a career spanning fashion designing, curating fashion events, designing look books, campaigns & style guides and currently an Associate Professor for Postgraduate Students at the Pearly Academy.
Mr. Roy began by asking students what their idea of personal branding was & then began a conversation about why Personal branding really counts. He began by asking students to volunteer to come up on the stage & asked “How would they define themselves as a person” and this he said creates a perception about them for others. He explained the importance of identifying themselves through the initial days of their career as it will ultimately contribute to their personality. The whole session was to motivate students and help them brand themselves through a portfolio and resume on LinkedIn, all to create a strong impact on the onlooker. He even asked them how many of them prefer to be in a place 5 minutes prior to the due time, as being punctual, having humility, and acknowledging others while also taking care of how they dress, each quality contributes to making lifelong connections.
The event was concluded by a question & answer round in which the students got a chance to clear their doubts and recap what Personal Branding really is. In the presence of more than 120 students, Ms. Trisha Poddar, from Pearl Academy, Mr. Avik Roy was felicitated by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Students Affairs. The event concluded with students bent to think of themselves as a brand.
