On the 10 th of May, 2016, the college was abuzz with the number of Professors and visitors who had come to see an exhibition of books, which was one of its kind at the Bhawanipur College. As the clock neared the scheduled time around inauguration which was 10am, the enthusiasm and the attendance were such that the inauguration could not be postponed further. The ribbon was cut by the Teacher In-charge Dr. Suchandra Chakraborty.
Interestingly, the first cash sale was of “Wings of Fire” by A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM happened even before the inauguration. The exhibition had 28 renowned publishers including the likes of Wiley India, Taxsman Publishers and Harvard Business School Press. But what was remarkable was that these publishers offered a 25% discount on books ranging on subjects from cookbooks to rocket science, including Bengali, Hindi and English which are available from different publishers. Also 43 colleges including 4 universities and 6 schools had been invited for the event. The college professors were requested to generously recommend books to help enrich the library collection. The interest expressed by the visitors is captured in the book and it is kept for the purpose and the general expression of the guests has been “impressive, overwhelming and excellent.”
