The Department of Business Administration at The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata, successfully organised a Workshop entitled, “Developing Effective LinkedIn Profiles” on 21st February, 2026 from 10:30 AM in the Jubilee Hall. The event attracted over 200 participants, with students from all the semesters.
The workshop began with the anchors, Harshit Mishra, and Simran Bag (both from the second semester), requesting the Course Coordinator, Dr Tridib Sengupta to deliver the welcome address. Dr Sengupta spoke about the importance of such workshops, and the need for LinkedIn in the current job market. Next, the anchors called upon the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, to deliver the introductory note. Prof. Shah shared some interesting facts and factoids with the participants on LinkedIn, and how an appropriate profile on the website can make all the difference.
After thanking Prof. Shah for his words, the anchors introduced the Resource Person, Mr Akshay Kumar. Mr Kumar is currently a Senior Doctoral Fellow at The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. He has worked as a language mentor for undergraduates for several years, and has conferred at institutions like the Jawaharlal Nehru University, The University of Warwick, The University of London, and Trinity College, London. Prof. Ananya Ghosh was requested to felicitate him.
Mr Kumar’s deliberation began with some figures on dwindling job opportunities, and how important it is to present one’s authentic self in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Then, he asked the participants to fill out a worksheet on personal skills, aspirations, personality traits, preferences, etc. This knowledge helped the participants to gather information for their authentic profiles. He also guided the participants on the important features and components on the website, and requested them to develop their own headlines and summary sections.
At the end of Mr Kumar’s deliberation, he showed multiple examples of well-developed profiles, and explained what stood out about each of them. Once his workshop was over, the participants asked him questions regarding similar local platforms, the personal versus the professional on LinkedIn, and some tips and tricks to create to good profiles. Mr Kumar was then given a certificate of appreciation by Dr Sengupta, and thanked for his time and efforts. Prof. Ananya Ghosh, then, delivered the vote of thanks.
