With this aim, The NSS unit of the Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a Cleanliness Drive & Sapling Distribution drive on the occasion of ‘ World Environment Day ‘ on 05/06/2023 at Northern Park at 7:30 am. The drive began with a marvelous speech by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Students Affairs to address students about the importance of planting trees to keep the environment healthy, followed by felicitating Mr Ashim Basu, Councilor of Ward no. 70 & Navya Shyamosree for their support.
The student volunteers started cleaning the park to keep the environment clean and then planted 28 saplings and distributed 50 saplings. The students in the group of 3 went with handmade posters and spread awareness about global warming and its causes on the environment.
The goal of the drive was to spread awareness about planting trees as it helps to improve air quality by intercepting and trapping dust and other pollutants from the air. The shade of trees also provides a useful barrier to harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun. But it’s not just our physical health that benefits, our mental health does too. More than 22 student volunteers and around 100 attendees actively participated in the drive, indicating their recognition of the importance of such initiatives for a greener and healthier environment.
