The UPI Story

The Bhawanipur Educational Society College orchestrated a remarkable event centered around The UPI Story, which took place on the 19th of May 2023 at the prestigious Jubilee Hall on the college campus. The event, starting at 11 pm, commenced with an invigorating introductory speech delivered by Prof. Dilip Shah, the esteemed Dean of Student Affairs, who shed light on the distinguished background and expertise of our chief guest and speaker, Dr. Suparna Dhar. Dr. Dhar, a highly accomplished professional in the fields of computing and analytics, holds a PHD in Business Administration with a specialization in Information Systems from Aligarh Muslim University, showcasing her extensive knowledge and prowess in the subject matter.

During her session, Dr. Dhar enlightened the audience about the societal challenges she encountered while working on UPI, shedding light on the vision of a digital India. She emphasized the significance of digital payments as a crucial component of digital services aimed at promoting financial inclusion. Moreover, Dr. Dhar highlighted the main objective of UPI, which is to simplify payments. She elaborated on the UPI solution, emphasizing its development, implementation, and promotion within India, while highlighting its extensive usage by Indians. The gathering served as an invaluable platform to delve into the intricate world of UPI stories, Illuminating the process of conceiving and advancing an idea from its inception to its practical realization. Attendees were treated to an enriching experience, as Dr. Suparna Dhar shared her insights, expertise, and real-world experiences in the field. The event took an interactive turn with a question and answer session, where students Jatin Mundhra, Anish Agarwal, and Nomick Tantia presented excellent inquiries. One notable question posed was about the factors that contributed to the widespread adoption of UPI among both users and businesses. Additionally, Prof. Vivek Patwari, a faculty member, raised a compelling query regarding the impact of UPI payments on individuals’ spending habits and their connection with credit cards. Dr. Dhar responded to each question with great acumen and enthusiasm, providing insightful and astute answers.
