The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized Ray of Hope, an event that brought smiles to the faces of some underprivileged children who were accompanied by the Hum Organization. Humanity for U and Me (HUM) is a youth-based Non-Profit Organization that commenced in 2014 and focuses on providing Food, Education (Jugnu), and Employment (Kiran) to the deprived sections of the societies. Through their hard work and determination, they have reconstructed a collapsed building and are currently teaching students from Nursery to Middle School. For this event over 100 students from slums near Salt Lake and VIP Bazaar participated. HUM aims at providing a safe and nurturing environment for these children. Their dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of these children is truly inspiring.
The attention to detail and artistic prowess exhibited by the Art in Me Collective in adorning the College Entrance and its surroundings with flawless decorations was truly awe-inspiring. The team delicately made exact hand-drawn replicas of Cartoons along with quirky selfie booths for the guests.
The NSS team had planned and executed a variety of engaging activities and games that catered to the interests of the children and kept them captive and engaged. A number of stalls were set up to distribute clothes, accessories, stationeries, baked items, toys, and other gift items among the children which they had to purchase using the currency tokens provided by the college allowing the children to choose items that they would enjoy. They played games like shooting balloons, aiming ping pong balls, arranging cups, consumption of hanging food without the use of their hands, etc. which was a fun and exciting experience for the students.
The spellbinding and mesmerizing performances put up by the college students on popular songs like “Buddhu Sa Man Hai,” “Bam Bam Bole,” and “Ashiyaan” for the children were a sight to behold. In return, the audience was treated to spectacular performances by the guest children on culturally rich and diverse songs such as “Ganesha Vandana,” “Dholi Taaro,” and some beautiful Bengali folk songs. The depth and richness of the performances showcased by the children were a testament to their innate talent and the dedication of their instructors. The refreshments provided in the form of ice creams and juices were a welcome respite after such an extraordinary display of talent. The joyous atmosphere was palpable as all the volunteers and little ones danced their hearts out.
The symbolic gesture of providing each participant with a candle, to represent the “Ray of Hope” in our lives (Ashaar Aloye), was a poignant and powerful moment in the event. As they sang the inspirational song “Man Mein Hai Vishwas” and lit their candles, it was a manifestation of their hope for a brighter and positive future, not just for themselves but also for the community. The entire Valia Hall radiated with a peaceful and courageous energy, as the collective hope and positive vibes resonated throughout the space.
The subsequent activity of playing with paint and leaving handprints on the walls of the college was a creative and innovative way of creating lasting memories for the participants. The activity not only allowed the students to express themselves creatively but also added a personal touch to the event. The end result was a beautiful and colorful display of handprints that symbolized the unity and diversity of the participants.
The day was a perfect blend of creativity, joy, and unity, and it will surely be remembered by all those who were lucky enough to be a part of it. Overall, the event was a perfect example of how small gestures can have a big impact.
In summary, the successful outcome of the event is a testament to the selfless efforts of the management, Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi along with Ms.Gargi and her entire NSS team, and their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need. The Volunteers of the collective showcased tremendous excellence in management, coordination as well as commitment which truly made this event a grand success. It was wonderful to see students and organizations coming together to create a memorable day for those in need.
