The Enact Collective of the Bhawanipur College organized a workshop on March 14, 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm in Placement Hall. The workshop was conducted by professional theatrician Mr. Apratim Chatterjee (currently working on Pherari Mon serial on Colours Bangla) and Mr. Palash Chaturvedi. Over the course of the workshop, participants enjoyed the opportunity to explore various aspects of theatre, including acting, directing, stagecraft, and much more.
The workshop commenced with relaxation exercises which helped everyone to channelize their energy. A brief introduction about theatre was given by Mr. Apratim Chatterjee who created a mock scene where the students acted as Oscar nominees and delivered their winning speeches. After that, the students were informed about reverse engineering. A few warm-up exercises were practiced by the students to boast their energy and increase their vocal capacity. These exercises helped the students to understand the concept of reverse engineering.
The students were divided into groups and each group was given five minutes to prepare and present a scene in the form of a photograph. All the students were asked to act frozen in one place and were held in the same position for a few seconds. In the meantime, the other groups were guessing what picture they were depicting to the onlooker. After that, the group which presented the scene then conveyed what they intended to show through their actions. In the end, the students interested in script writing, acting, and direction were shortlisted after getting first-hand experience by interacting with such accomplished theatricians who paved the way to their theatrical success. This was a great initiative taken by the Enact collective to explore the creation of an entire production, through creativity, experimentation, physical training, teamwork, and self-discovery while understanding the basics of theatre.
