We all know that animals are an important part of our ecosystem, they not only give support and improve our lives, but they also teach human the true meaning of friendship. International Animal Rights Day is celebrated on 10th December every year; it is done to celebrate the relation between humans and animals. Therefore, this day allows us to celebrate their existence. This day is celebrated around the world without any discrimination of religion, caste, colour, beliefs, and ideology. This is a special day for those who care for and love these wonderful creations of God. There are many animal welfare organizations, groups, charity, and schools that participate in the celebration.
To spread the message of peace and love for animals The NSS Unit of The Bhawanipur College in collaboration with Furrfolks presented Project StrayED on 08.12.2022 in view of International Animal Rights Day. Furrfolks is a Youth organization and Trust, working for the welfare of stray animals in and around Kolkata. Project StrayEd was launched, with the objective of educating students about Co-existence and welfare of our coexisting friends, the stray animals.
StrayEd was executed by a brief awareness seminar followed by an interactive session with the students, about our community animals and their welfare. Followed by a vaccination drive around the campus area, where students directly learnt, how to approach stray animals, how to look after a needy or injured stray etc. 50 Stray dogs were vaccinated using Arv vaccine.
