Antakshari is a spoken parlour game played in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. Each contestant sings the first verse of a song that begins with the Hindustani consonant on which the previous contestant’s song ends. The first event on the second day of Umang’14 was Antakshari which was held at the main stage.
The event was hosted and judged by Mr. Rajat Baid. Juhi Ramrakhiali assisted the judge with the scores. In the Semi-finals there were twelve teams and each team comprised of two participants. In the finals there were six teams who had qualified on the basis of their quick judgement and ability to sing. Both the semi-final and the final stage had nine rounds. Questions were asked about Antara, Mukhda and Dhun; the participants had to translate an English sentence to Hindi and sing that song. There was a buzzer round in which they would get a thousand points for singing the right song based on the clue given. The participant amazed the audience with their incredible spontaneity with the songs. The music crazy students were delighted at the frenzy of varied songs sung by the participants.
