On 15th August 2021 India celebrated its 75th Independence Day and the Bhawanipur Education Society College celebrated this special day great pomp and show to commemorate our freedom and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. The event was held both virtually and physically taking into consideration the current Covid-19 protocols limited students and faculty members were present for the event. The entire celebration was streamed live on the college YouTube and Facebook channel to ensure that everyone was a part of the event virtually.
The celebration begun with the Indian Flag being hoisted by members of the management Sri Pankaj Parekh, Smt Nalini Parekh, Smt Renuka Bhatt, Sri Jitendra Shah, Sri Rajnikant Dani, along with Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Dr. Suman K Mukerjee, Prof. Dilip and the Chief Guest for the occasion Wing Commander Vishnu Sharma. Followed by march-past by the NCC Cadets of the 31 Bengal Battalion and the national anthem.
This was followed by a glimpse into previous years’ celebration. And an inspiring message from Director General, Dr Suman K Mukerjee and the program proceeded with a student giving a special tribute to Kasturba Gandhi the pillar of strength for husband Mahatma Gandhi. While the ‘Father of the Nation’ is revered for being on the frontlines of the freedom struggle, Kasturba Gandhi has left an indelible mark on Indian history with her significant, albeit under-recognised contributions, to the struggle for independence through a remarkable performance.
Chief Guest Wing Commander Vishnu Sharma inspired the students by fostering in them the spirit of nationalism and encouraged them to contribute towards the nation. He also explained the significance of the army and the air force.
This was followed by a mesmerising musical tribute by CRESENDO Collective and a dance tribute by FLAMES Collective performed virtually. The program concluded with a word of gratitude by Prof Dilip Shah, who commended on the efforts of the NCC Cadets who had relentlessly helped covid victims with necessary supplies like vaccines, food, hospitals beds and oxygen cylinders. The efforts of these cadets were duly acknowledged.
The film ‘Shershaah’ based on the heroic life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra was later shown to the students and this marked the end of the great day’s celebration.
