PEN PENCIL CHARCOAL was a hands-on workshop on exploring the various forms of sketching organised by the ‘Art In Me’ Collective of the Bhawanipur College, conducted on zoom meetings from 03:00 pm to 05:00 pm. It was a two-day event; more than 100 students attended the workshop. The speaker, Mr. Biswanath Dasgupta, an eminent painter, printmaker and educator was the chief speaker of the event.
The event stressed on the importance of direction of light, depth of shadow and area of reflection while sketching. Mr. Biswanath taught the students how to treat 2D and 3D objects differently while sketching. He further explained the students the different techniques about using pressure to create strokes of various thickness. He also shared with the students his own sketches and experiences for a clearer understanding. The participants took active part in the event and they were extremely cooperative and communicative. The event ended on a very enthusiastic note and the speaker gave several tips to the students which surely will be of great use to them in the future. At the end, a vote of thanks was given by Prof. Divya P. Udeshi.
