The most colorful and vibrant festival of India – Holi – is marked with much fun and fervor throughout the country. Celebrating the triumph of good over bad, this festival falls at the end of February or onset of March, when the harsh winters are bid adieu and nature bursts with various shades of regeneration. Songs, water balloons and bright colors are the major highlights of this vivid and lively festival. These bright colors are believed to signify energy, life and joy.
Like every other year, the Bhawanipur Education Society College celebrated this festival of colours as Fagun- named after the month of its occurrence- rejoicing the forces of renewal that Nature unleashes. What makes BESC’s celebration unique from the rest is the use of Flowers instead of colours, in an attempt to make it a genuine celebration of nature. The celebration of Fagun is also BESC’s tribute its non-teaching staff who are the guests of honour for the day and without whose support the institution cannot run with the efficiency that it does.
This year’s programme was graced by the presence of Champaklal Doshi, Chairman of the Governing body of the college and Naliniben Parekh, Committee Member of the institution.
The events for the day started with customary welcome address by Prof Dilip Shah, followed by a singing performance from the Crescendo collective of the college. Next, Flames collective of BESC staged a special production that was crafted exclusively for the occasion. A Quiz session followed, which was greeted with enthusiastic response from the present audience. The felicitation of the non-teaching staff with gift hampers from various dignitaries was next on the agenda. The main-stage events came to a close with a performance from Saurav Goswami and group.
Snacks, including the Indian delicacies Malpua and Litti Chokha were served; and towards the end, the DJ urged everyone to take to the floor, to welcome the descent of Fagun, and the flower petals spread their colourful merriment.
