The Vaishnavas of Bengal have a popular legend, that Saraswati was the wife of Vishnu, as were also goddess Lakshmi and goddess Ganga. Saraswati a learned lady who was the consort of the creator God, Brahma. She was responsible for helping him form the universe. It is worthy of remark, that Saraswati is represented as of a white color, without any superfluity of limbs, and not infrequently of a graceful figure wearing a slender crescent on her brow and sitting on a lotus.
Saraswati Puja was observed on the 30th of January 2020 and once again the students of our college arranged a puja and a beautiful ceremony in the Valia hall and the college turf inviting everyone in traditional attire. The aarti began at 9:30 am with all the students, college and society members. After the puja at 10:30 am competitions among the students were initiated for rangoli making, decorating aarti thali, shankh blowing and Saraswati sholak narration. While the students were busy completing their tasks on time, the best dressed amongst teachers was awarded to Female – Prof. Gargi, Male – Prof. Chandan Jha and the best dressed among students was awarded to Female – Sneha Malhotra, Male – Adrish.
Dr. Vasundra Mishra played on the Sarod raga malkosh. Everyone danced together on the auspicious occasion and dressed in yellow-colored kurta pajamas and sarees, it seemed like florets of sunflowers blossomed around the college campus, seemed we were in Kansas. Prasad was organized and served in the Valia hall.
