The future is digital, they say and the world, especially the one of business and commerce, is increasingly integrating itself into the digital realm. Not to be left out, the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) organises a number of events that are aimed at empowering the students to make this transition into the digital realm so that they mat reap the benefits. The current workshop was no exception.
Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of student Affairs of the BESC gave a brief introduction about the need and efficacy of digital marketing telling the students how they must always ride the waves of change in order to forge their own paths. He then proceeded to introduce the guest faculty – Angshuman Sett from NIHT.
Day one of the workshop was dedicated to the basics (which turned out wasn’t that basic, after all) with the faculty explaining the ways and means of creating a commercial page in the different social media platforms, with particular emphasis on the biggest of them all – facebook.
Creation was followed by optimisation as the students where shown as to how best they can optimise their pages so that they may increase the visibility, attract the eyeballs and engage the potential customers so that conversations may ultimately lead to conversions. Even while the basic steps were being chalked out, the faculty took great care to explain the underlying reasons behind the steps which was a kind of an eyeopener for most of the students who had literally approached the seminar complacent in the belief that they knew everything that was there to know about Facebook and went our literally humbled.
The next part of the workshop dealt with the aspects – the intricacies (and the psychology that drives it) of creating awareness about the page that is created and the posts that are uploaded therein. Contentious things about content and the ways of maximising it for the benefit of the business. Here too, students were overwhelmed by the amount of science that goes behind the creation of content as they learnt how to increase the effectiveness and efficacy of all that is posted.
