Concept Hall, October 7th, 2018. AIESEC the international youth exchange programme that fosters global brotherhood needs no introduction. It is the world’s largest non-profit youth-run organisation. It is also an international non-governmental not-for-profit organisation that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. The organisation focuses on empowering young people to make a positive impact on society and has innumerable members spread across the world. That AIESEC strikes a familiar chord in the heart of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) which espouses views that are similar goes without saying. Naturally, AIESEC and BESC have bonds that are not only extremely close but are also very, very strong.
It was a part of this bonding exercise that was celebrated through the organisation of the Global Village at the BESC. The decorations were eclectic, the energy of the volunteers electric and the programmes that were chalked out entertaining, for BESC did not wish to leave any stones unturned to welcome into its home and hearth the guests that were coming.
And guests, the come – from ten different countries of the world – USA, Indonesia, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, Cameroon, Uganda, Morocco, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Mozambique and India – to celebrate their diverse cultures under one roof, to mingle and sing the song of brotherhood of man.
Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs of the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) welcomed the guests filling them in with India’s tradition of treating her guests as Gods and briefly introduced the BESC. The AIESEC member from Mexico thanked the hosts on behalf of all present.
CRESCENDO, the music collective of the BESC took the stage and as they broke into “We are the World”, everybody joined in, in one big, rhythmic, pulsating, celebration of fraternity. A mashup followed where tunes from different countries were played with the representative of the country showing the moves to accompany the tune which the other followed. BESC students then presented the Garba in their synchronised moves that had the audience jump in as everybody swayed in friendship.
To take the beat to the next orbit was a DJ who played the global hits which was followed by a sumptuous spread.
