Do you love sketching? Don’t know what Urban Sketching is? Our ancestors used to express their emotions by drawing sketches in dark caves with just the help of stones. Thus, sketching has been evolving along civilization. And Urban Sketching it’s the sketching drawings or paintings on location. You basically park yourself in one spot and capture life and moments as it is. So exciting, right?
On the 27th and 28th of August, The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted an online workshop on urban sketching, Nandita Pandey and Shreyasi Paine coordinated the workshop. For two days the participants were beautifully guided under the supervision of Mr. Avidip Kundu who is an advocate and a freelance artist. The event was conducted digitally on zoom and it began from 7:00 pm on both days.
Mr. Avidip Kundu is a self-taught artist, and he learned this art of sketching by practicing and exploring various sketches of different artists. Being an advocate, he is so passionate about his art, and he conducts many workshops on urban sketching and educates children about the different types of arts and how to practice them.
The two-day workshop explored different techniques of sketching and was attended by an average of 30 students on both the days. On the first day Prof. Dilip Shah introduced the students to Mr. Avidip and introduced the workshop of Urban Sketching that will help you learn to capture beautiful architecture around you and that too in your own style. Throughout the event the students actively took part in the event and drew sketches in the presence of Mr. Avidip. He displayed the amazing artworks created by him and engage participants in the art and practice of onsite drawing.
The event, though held online, helped the students very much as it taught them to be passionate towards what we dream to be, despite the challenges we face in our lives. Like Mr. Avidip who is an advocate and is pursuing his passion of being an artist simultaneously.
